COPELAND Council has shared some useful information about its services over the festive period.
Its office opening hours at Millom and Whitehaven are:
- December 23: close at 1pm
- December 24 to January 2: closed
- January 3: offices will reopen at 9am
Parking
Eight of the council's car parks are free on Saturdays and Sundays, and after 3pm on weekdays, until (and including) Monday, January 2.
The car parks are: School House Lane, Senhouse Street, Whitehaven Sports Centre, The Beacon Museum and North Shore (all Whitehaven), Chapel Street and Beck Green (Egremont), and St Bees Foreshore
Recycling and waste collections
In the week leading up to Christmas, collections are as normal.
In the week beginning December 26, all collections will be one day later than normal. This includes collections scheduled for December 30 being collected on Saturday December 31.
Distington Hall Crematorium
- December 23: close at 1pm
- December 24 to 27: closed
- December 28 to 30: open
- December 31 to January 2: closed
- The crematorium office will reopen at 9am on January 3.
- The Chapel of Remembrance is open from 9am until 4pm every day throughout the Christmas period.
The Beacon Museum
- December 24 to 28: closed
- December 29 and 30 open and FREE to everyone from 11am until 4pm
- December 31 to Jan 2: closed
- The museum reopens at 10am on January 3.
