More than 400 people visited Distington Walled Garden on Saturday (October 29), for its first Harvest Festival.
The wet weather didn’t deter the crowds from the event - which hosted a covered market, children’s games, crafts, and live music.
Councillor Andy Pratt, Copeland’s Portfolio Holder for Parks and Open Spaces, said: “The community appreciation generated by this event was fantastic.
“Not only were visitors supporting local traders, but there was also a keen interest in the volunteer opportunities offered at the garden – which will help us to run more events like this one.
Younger visitors played snatch apple and enjoyed exploring the thriving garden, while others browsed the flowers, homeware, and refreshments available at the market.
Fourteen local traders showcased their handcrafted goods, and some stallholders came dressed in Halloween attire for the occasion.
This is the second event of its kind held in the Walled Garden, which has been transformed by volunteers over the past year.
Copeland Borough Council welcomes helpers to the space on a regular basis, to plant flowers, herbs, and trees.
Volunteers also offered a helping hand on the day of the Harvest Festival, which helped the event to run smoothly.
