An action-packed wellbeing festival will help families in Copeland to access support for a healthy lifestyle.
Next month, Copeland Borough Council’s Health and Wellbeing Community Festival will provide free family entertainment alongside access to vital wellbeing services.
Animal therapy sessions, rugby workshops, dance classes and a colour run with Gary Mckee, the ‘Marathon Man’, are just a few of the activities on offer.
All are welcome to attend at the Whitehaven Rugby League Club on Friday, August 12, from 10am until 3pm.
The event, organised by Copeland’s Social Prescribing team, will help residents find the support they need, while enjoying a free day out.
It is being delivered in partnership with the nuclear industry’s Box Encapsulation Plant Delivery Team (BEPDT) - comprising Jacobs, Balfour Beatty and Sellafield Ltd.
The festival is also supported by Rosehill Theatre, Cumbria County Council and the Copeland Community Fund.
Organisations that can help with loneliness, housing, financial hardship, benefits, welfare and more, will be there to offer advice.
Copeland’s Mayor, Mike Starkie, said: “This is set to be a great day for all involved. The community can enjoy a day out that is free of charge, beneficial to their wellbeing and fun for everyone.”
Geoff Blacklock, BEPDT’s Health and Safety Lead, said: “We have embedded health and wellbeing into our improvement strategy to raise awareness of the impact and benefits of a healthy community.
“Our residents are our best asset, and this event will be a great way to showcase the support available to help them live a healthy, happy lifestyle.”
Free refreshments will be provided and there is no need to book.
