Three new ‘Tale Trails’ will launch at an interactive, family event in Millom Heritage and Arts Centre next week.
Writer Anja Phoenix has been working with the council and The Outdoor Partnership to create six interactive story walks between Whitehaven and Millom.
Each Tale Trail includes a story based around local points of interest and a colourful hand drawn map.
Another launch in April introduced Tale Trails for Whitehaven, St Bees and Ravenglass – the Millom event will release tales for Drigg, Silecroft and Haverigg on Saturday, June 11.
The launch will begin with a storytelling session at 10am, and hands-on history sessions - including Viking coin making - will run throughout the day.
At 1pm families can join Laura Earl from The Hiking Household on a guided walk from the Hodbarrow Nature Reserve to the car park.
The story walks are part of the council's Connecting Cumbria’s Hidden Coast programme, which is funded by the Coastal Communities Fund and Sellafield Ltd.
Councillor Steven Morgan, Copeland Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Tourism, said: “This project is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors and get to know the impressive coastline that borders Copeland.”
Anja Phoenix, Author of Tale Trails, said: "Creating the Tale Trails for West Cumbria has been an amazing experience. There are so many breathtakingly beautiful places hidden away along the coast and it is great to make them more accessible for children.
“This will be a fantastic way to celebrate the release of the new trails - we hope lots of families will visit and enjoy getting creative."
