BUSINESSES in Copeland will receive more than £1.5 million in grant support this week.
The cash grants will be hitting bank accounts to help businesses through the pandemic.
The grants are being made to 667 businesses, eligible for the Local Restriction Support Grant (closed), that have been forced to close as a result of Government restrictions during December and January.
The payments include an upfront cash amount for the current lockdown period, January 5 – February 15.
The Council advises businesses to check their email accounts for a GOV.UK email from Copeland Borough Council’s Business Rates team. This email will contain details of grant amounts being paid.
The Council advises businesses to be vigilant against fraudsters at this time and assures owners that it will not ask for account details or confidential information through this address.
These payments are in addition to the one-off top-up grants of £4,000, £6,000 or £9,000 announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in early January. The Council is still awaiting further guidance and will update businesses with more information on when this payment will be made, when possible.
Copeland Council’s Revenues team continues to process payments for the Additional Restrictions Grant and Local Restrictions Support Grant (open). Qualifying criteria for both schemes can be accessed via the website address below.
Businesses are advised not to contact the Council further if they have already applied for these grants.
Wet-let pubs are reminded to apply for the £1,000 Christmas Support Payment on or before the closing date of January 29.
