COPELAND Borough Council is inviting wet-led pubs in Copeland to apply for a £1,000 Christmas Support Payment.
The Government grant for wet-led pubs is a one-off payment for premises that fall under Tier 2 or 3 restrictions between December 2 and 29.
Cumbria is currently under Tier 2, therefore the borough’s wet-led pubs are eligible for this payment.
Wet-led pubs are those that derive under 50 per cent of their income from food sales.
Businesses that are also in receipt of other Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG) or the Additional Restrictions Grant – can receive this grant.
Businesses must have been trading before the national restrictions were imposed on November 5, 2020.
This scheme will close on December 29, 2020. Final applications must be received by January 31, 2021.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “This is undoubtedly an incredibly hard time for all those in the hospitality industry.
“This grant, alongside the Local Restrictions Support Grants, Furlough Scheme, VAT and Business Rate Relief, I hope, provides some relief for Copeland’s wet-pubs and I encourage proprietors to apply as soon as possible.”
A Local Restrictions Support Grant is currently available for businesses that are currently closed, or severely affected due to restrictions.
Copeland Council also made available an Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) during in the lockdown period for businesses severely impacted, including those who are self-employed, applications remain open and will be backdated.
