A SPECIAL memorial service is being held at Distington Hall Crematorium next week to mark Mother’s Day.
The event on Wednesday, March 18 will involve a flower-planting ceremony to create a memorial flower bed.
Guests will be invited to plant a flower – provided by the crematorium team – in memory of their mother.
Refreshments will be available, and there will also be an opportunity to sign the Mother’s Day Book of Remembrance.
Sue Pringle, Copeland Council’s Bereavement Services Development Manager, said: “This is our second annual Mother’s Day event and we’re looking forward to welcoming families to the crematorium gardens.
“We know that for some people who have lost their mother, Mother’s Day can be a difficult and emotional time. But we hope that this event will be an opportunity for families to come together for a positive and uplifting event; to plant a flower in memory of their much-loved mum, and then return in the future to enjoy the flower bed in full bloom."
The event runs from 2pm to 3pm and there is no need to book a place.
