COPELAND Council is offering free parking this festive period.
All 10 of the car parks that the council runs will be free to use from Saturday, December 22 to Tuesday, January 1 (inclusive).
Included in the offer is School House Lane, Senhouse Street, Whitehaven Sports Centre, Copeland Centre, The Ginns, The Beacon Museum and North Shore (all Whitehaven), Chapel Street and Beck Green (Egremont) and St Bees Foreshore.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: "We're pleased to once again be supporting our town centres by offering free car parking this Christmas and New Year period.
"We're encouraging all our residents to support their towns by shopping locally, dining out or going for a drink, while the Christmas break is the perfect opportunity for stroll around Whitehaven harbour or along St Bees beach.
"It's also free to park at The Beacon Museum where there is a range of family activities running, in addition to the stunning Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Copeland residents qualify for free entry to the museum under the Copeland Pass scheme, so there really is no better time to visit."
Residents are asked to note that there are a number of marked permit-only bays within these car parks that are not available for public use. Additionally, only the car parks listed above are subject to this offer; there are other car parks that are privately-owned and may be subject to payment.
