APPLICATIONS are now open for a host of modern apprentice opportunities at Copeland Council.
The council is currently recruiting six apprentices, offering employment and training in the Parks, Economic Development, Revenues and Benefits, Environmental Health and Building Control/Housing departments. The apprenticeships vary from 18 months to five years.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “There has never been a better time to join Copeland Council.
“It’s an extremely exciting time for the council – and for the borough – and our council is a rewarding place to work for those who are passionate about public services.
“This is the second successive year that we have taken on six apprentices, and the six that we welcomed last year have proved to be excellent additions to our team.”
The council has the following apprenticeships available:
- Trainee Gardener (two posts available)
- Community Support Apprentice
- Revenues and Benefits Apprentice
- Apprentice Regulatory Compliance Officer
- Trainee Building Control Surveyor/Trainee Housing Technical Officer (one post split across two departments)
Some of Copeland’s current crop of apprentices are encouraging applicants to the new roles.
Darcey Adair, Customer Services Apprentice, said: “I enjoy it because every day is different. It is interesting and always busy. I also like that I don't really feel like an apprentice. I'm given the same tasks and responsibilities as others.”
Robbie Armstrong, Finance Apprentice, added: “I enjoy working with the team; they are all really great. I'm getting access to the different systems, doing different things, and no two days are the same.”
