A HIGH-CALIBRE line-up of speakers has been announced for the second Copeland Open For Business Conference.
Copeland Mayor Mike Starkie will host the April 19 event at Whitehaven Golf Club, at which 250 delegates from the business community will hear from a number of organisations that are playing a major part in the borough’s development.
Speaking at the invite-only event on the theme of ‘Are You Ready?’ will be: Ivan Baldwin, Chairman of Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster; Pat Graham, Managing Director of Copeland Council; Richard Harrington, Under-Secretary for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Trudy Harrison, Copeland MP; Professor Cathy Jackson, Head of UCLan’s Medical School; Mark Kirkbride, Chief Executive of West Cumbria Mining; Jamie Reed, Head of Development and Community Relations at Sellafield Ltd; Tom Samson, Chief Executive of NuGen; and Lord Matthew Taylor, a former MP of 23 years.
Mr Starkie said: “I am delighted that we are able to welcome such a high calibre of speaker to the conference, and I’d like to thank our partners at Sellafield Ltd for helping to make the conference a reality.
“The first Open For Business Conference in 2015 was a resounding success and saw hundreds of delegates enjoy fascinating presentations from key players in Copeland’s business community on the major opportunities that are heading our way.
“Two-and-a-half years on and there have been tremendous changes – and progress – locally and this second conference is the perfect opportunity to showcase that development, point to the rapid investment and growth that’s coming, and explore how it can maximised.”
