COPELAND Council is to take on several new staff - including teams to help deliver the authority's new recycling scheme.
Roles currently being recruited for include four HGV drivers and 13 waste operatives - these are a mixture of fixed-term and permanent positions.
From April Copeland's expanded team will collect five different materials in three boxes and a weighted bag. Paper, glass, card, plastic and metal will be collected from the kerbside for more than 95 per cent of Copeland's householders.
The council's portfolio holder for waste and recycling, Coun Mark Holliday, said: "We're looking for the right people to be part of this exciting new project. This investment means several of the roles are new, whilst others are existing vacancies, or short-term ones, for example to help with the initial deliveries of the boxes to householders.
"We have a very friendly team here and there's a real sense of satisfaction to be had from working towards a better environment."
Waste operatives safely collect waste and recycling from properties across Copeland, 363 days a year, and transport it to disposal sites. Applicants will need to be reasonably fit, and happy to work in the outdoors.
