RECENT Bride Sarah Hodgson will be chopping off her long locks for charity.
Sarah, who recently got married to her partner of 10 years, decided she would donate eight inches of her hair to children who have lost theirs through cancer and other illnesses.
The Little Princess Trust provides wigs for children suffering with hair loss. Although the wigs are provided to those in need free of charge, they cost around £350 - £500 to produce.
Sarah who lives at Mirehouse, Whitehaven, has always had long hair but decided to grow it even further for her pending nuptials earlier in the year.
Alongside donating her hair, Sarah is also hoping to raise funds to support the production of the wig. Donations have reached over £200 so far.
Sarah a Housing Benefits Assessment Officer at Copeland Borough Council, said: “Most of my friends and colleagues know that I love my long hair and after some deliberation I decided to chop my hair off and donate it to The Little Princess Trust.
“For anyone who can donate, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated so that the cost of making the wigs could be covered to help the trust even further.
“I'll be getting the big chop on October 7 at Savvy in Whitehaven and would like to thank everyone who’s donated so far.”
