ELEVEN warning letters have been sent by Copeland Council’s Enforcement team over the past three months.
In addition to the warning letters sent - largely to those guilty of accumulating waste – one community protection notice has been issued to a resident caught accumulating and burning waste.
The figures, which run from April to June, also reveal that 182 incidents were reported to the team, including fly-tipping (50), dog barking (25) and abandoned vehicles (33). This represents a reduction from 219 on the same time period in 2016.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “Our problems in terms of enforcement issues are comparatively low, but the episodes we do get affect people’s enjoyment of their home and neighbourhoods.
“As these figures illustrate, we take action on all reports received and while we don’t hesitate to use our enforcement powers if they are necessary, we use a wide range of appropriate measures to resolve nuisance issues.
“We live in a beautiful part of the world and everyone should respect and take pride in it, and the minority who don’t, leave themselves open to legal action.”
