Cemeteries in Copeland are due for their regular maintenance to prepare the grounds for spring.
The work will take place from February 15 but there will be no impact on the public. The cemeteries will be tidied in order to prepare them for the grass cutting season.
An important part of the work is to remove Christmas wreaths and decorations - this allows for the disposal of unwanted or out-of-date decorations, and also means grounds staff can complete the tasks necessary to keep cemeteries in tip top condition.
If there are any particular Christmas decorations that relatives would prefer to keep, they should collect them from the graveside before February 15.
Coun David Banks, portfolio holder for customers and communities, said: "This work is part of keeping our cemeteries looking their best. It is important that wreaths and decorations are removed so that our teams can maintain the grounds and prepare them for changes in the weather."
Copeland Council operates cemeteries in Whitehaven, Hensingham, Millom, Nether Wasdale and Beckermet, along with Distington Hall Crematorium.
