Copeland Borough Council is introducing a new, one-stop-shop telephone number for all enquiries about the services they provide.
From August 1, 2015 residents wishing to contact the council should call 01946 598300 or go online. The new telephone number will be charged at the standard local rate, however those wishing for a quicker and free way of contacting Customer Services can go online to find out information and give feedback on council services via the e-form or pay parking fines, council tax of planning and building control fees or you can email Customer Services directly at info@copeland.gov.uk .
The Council’s 0845 number will transfer directly to the new 01946 598300 from August 1 and from September 1 customers will be asked to redial the new number.
Copeland Council’s director of customer and community services, Julie Betteridge said: “Originally, the 0845 number was set up to ensure where ever a customer called from in the borough they paid the same local rate, whether you were calling from Millom or Whitehaven. Since then communications has changed, and it is the same cost where ever you call from in Copeland, and we now also offer more services online which is even quicker and cheaper.
“The online services means our customer have alternative, free ways of access customer services 24/7 via the Council website www.copeland.gov.uk or by emailing the Customer Service team’s with their enquiry directly at info@copeland.gov.uk .
“Customers can manager their council tax accounts online via the website and see the latest updates from the Council on Facebook and Twitter.
“Services across the Council are regularly assessed and as part of the Customer Service review we could see we could improve the way people contact us, by providing one direct telephone line alongside our expanding online service.”
