COPELAND Council is providing some handy information about their services over the Easter period.
On Good Friday, bin and recycling collections will be carried out as normal. There will be no collections on Easter Monday, and all collections that week will be one day later than normal. These changes are also marked on residents’ waste calendars, which can be found at www.copeland.gov.uk.
All the council’s offices, along with Distington Crematorium, will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. They will reopen as normal on Tuesday April 7.
If residents have an emergency, for example flooding or homelessness, they should ring the council’s main number, 0845 054 8600 which can divert them to an emergency response number.
The award-winning Beacon Museum in Whitehaven is open every day over the Easter holidays, from 10am until 4.30pm.
There are also some eggstra-special family drop-in crafts sessions at that harbourside attraction On 2 April at Magical Mythical Jewellery, families can have fun making jewellery inspired by local legends and folklore.
Then on 9 April families can come along and create their very own Magical Mythical Creatures using clay.
The activities are suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years and their families, and cost just £1.50 per person. There is no need to book as the sessions will run all day from 10am until 4pm. If you would like to take part, please wear suitable clothing as it could be messy.
